In Größe, Gestalt, Gefieder und Lebensraum ähnelt der Stentorrohrsänger dem auch in Europa verbreiteten Drosselrohrsänger, an dessen Verbreitungsgebiet er sich mit einer kleinen Überlappung südlich anschließt.
