Die Große Heidelibelle (Sympetrum striolatum) ist eine Libellenart aus der Familie der Segellibellen (Libellulidae). Diese bilden eine Familie der Unterordnung Großlibellen (Anisoptera). Bei der Auswahl der besiedelten Gewässer ist die Libelle recht genügsam. Sie besiedelt sowohl flache, warme Weiher als auch Pioniergewässer wie Sandgruben.
