## Summary

Der Halbmond-Faulvogel (Malacoptila striata), Syn. Malacoptila torquata, ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Faulvögel (Bucconidae) und zählt zu den Spechtvögeln.  Früher wurde die Art auch Weißkopf-Faulvogel genannt.
Die Art ist in den tropischen Regionen Südamerikas heimisch und lebt endemisch in Brasilien in zwei voneinander getrennten Gebieten in Nordostbrasilien in Maranhão und Piauí, im Osten und Südosten von Bahia und Minas Gerais bis Paraná und Santa Catarina mit jeweiligen Unterarten (Ssp.).
Der Lebensraum umfasst feuchte Wälder , Sekundärwald, Waldränder im Tiefland, bevorzugt Ränder von Lichtungen, Straßen…
