## Summary

Die Mantelmöwe (Larus marinus) ist die größte Vogelart innerhalb der Möwen (Larinae). Sie ist an den Küsten in Nord- und Nordwesteuropa, in Grönland und im nordöstlichen Nordamerika beheimatet. An der Wattenmeerküste der Nordsee fehlt die Art jedoch als Brutvogel. In Europa halten Norwegen, Großbritannien, Island und Schweden die größten Bestände. Während die hochnordischen Populationen im Winter süd- oder westwärts ziehen, sind die meisten anderen Standvögel.
Die Mantelmöwe ist weitgehend an die Meeresküste gebunden, wo sie an unzugänglichen Stellen wie Inseln oder Felsklippen nistet. Nicht selten brütet sie in Kolonien…
