## Summary

Eunicella singularis, die Weiße Gorgonie, ist eine koloniale Weichkoralle aus der Familie Eunicellidae. Sie ist von den etwa 20 im Mittelmeer vorkommenden Gorgonienarten eine der am häufigsten anzutreffenden und die einzige mediterrane Gorgonie, die, wie die meisten Steinkorallen, symbiontische Algen besitzt. Die Erstbeschreibung erfolgte 1791 durch Eugen Johann Christoph Esper.
