Die Brautente (Aix sponsa) ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Entenvögel (Anatidae). Ihr natürliches Verbreitungsgebiet ist Nordamerika. Sie lebt an Waldseen und ist an ein Leben in Waldgebieten angepasst. Bäume dienen ihr als Brut- und Rastplatz. Sie brütet bevorzugt in verlassenen Nisthöhlen von Spechten.
