Terms of use
Rules for using Animal Checklist. The subscription terms and withdrawal information apply to the paid plan.
1. Provider
Arne Kellmann, Odenwaldstr. 134L, 64372 Ober-Ramstadt, Germany. Email: animalchecklist@arnekellmann.de. VAT ID: DE292592171.
2. Service
The checklist, catalogue, quiz and public API are free. Photo recognition is a paid service. Price, term, cancellation and withdrawal are in the subscription and withdrawal information at /subscription-terms. That page prevails for the paid plan.
3. Age
You need to be at least 16 years old to create an account. You need to be 18 or have the consent of your legal guardian to buy a paid plan.
4. Account, username and leaderboard
Keep your sync code, sign-in links and keys private. You are responsible for use under your account.
New accounts are hidden from the leaderboard. If you make yourself visible, other visible participants can see your username, species count and quiz points. Do not use your real name, an email address, advertising, hate speech or the name of a third party. We can change or remove a username that breaks this rule. You can hide yourself at any time in your account settings.
5. Photo recognition
Results are AI suggestions and can be wrong. Check each result before you confirm it. Upload only photos of animals, not of people. You keep your rights in your photos. You allow us to process them only to deliver the result.
6. Content and licences
Photos and texts in the catalogue carry their own licences. See /licences. Animal articles are written with AI and checked automatically. Mistakes are possible. Do not rely on the app for medical, veterinary or safety decisions, for example for animal bites, poisonous animals or wildlife contact.
7. Report illegal content
Write to animalchecklist@arnekellmann.de with the page address, your reason and your contact data. We check the report without undue delay and tell you the result. For rights in photos or text use /takedown.
8. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contract duty, limited to the foreseeable damage that is typical for the contract. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
9. Dispute resolution
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in a dispute resolution procedure before a consumer arbitration body (§ 36 VSBG).
10. Law and changes
German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection law of the country where you live remains unaffected. We publish changes on this page. A change to a paid contract needs your consent.
